FT SNOW OTTER
MF - RAPTOR V2
This was a fun week in MESArc, two students were ready with some awesome builds to maiden, the FT Snow Otter and MF Raptor V2. Even though we are in the heart of winter the students are still building away within their "Build 2 Fly" learning strand. Hunter and Delaney are first year students and they are already showcasing that they are becoming the leaders of the team. Hunter's Snow Otter, the FT Sea Otter, came out amazing and flying the plane on the snow was a cool experience, he loved that part the most.
The build went smoothly, getting stuck only once and at the perfect time. Bixler was by to visit and was able to give him instant feedback that allowed for him to complete the plane before our first big snow. With a little bit 1990's snow camo and he was set to go.
The plane flew great but only after we put a 4 cell to replace the standard specs. The plane had a hard time getting off the snow and flying with a 3 cell, once the 4 cell was in the plane worked great and gave us another thrust to cruise around and get out of jams when needed. Hunter's next project is scaling down one of our fighters as his product design impact he wants to leave on MESArc, so look forward to a mini MF aircraft in the future by him to take to the skies.
As for Delaney, her next build revolved around Ashton's Raptor V2. She really wanted to see how all the pieces fit and to see how Ashton designed it to all work. This build was super fast for her, finishing the project within 2 weeks from start to finish.
With some more sim time under her belt she proved to be a lot better with the sticks and now feels confident moving forward with her own design. She plans to take both of Ashton's Raptor and Eagle designs to come up with something unique, so stay tuned to she what she comes up with in the Spring.
