2017 Red Bull Flugtag

Last year Flite Test and Rotor Riot (AKA Flite Riot) teamed up to compete in the Red Bull Flugtag 2016 in Boston, Mass. And they WON. Recently, Flite Test met with the Red Bull Flugtag committee to announce the location of this year’s Flugtag: Pittsburgh, Penn.

The Red Bull Flugtag (German for “flying day”) began in 1992 in Vienna, Austria, and was created to challenge participants to design homemade, man-powered flying machines to take flight in, well, some very creative ways.

This year, the Redbull Flugtag will be held on Saturday, August 5, in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta’s 40th anniversary event and we at Flite Test are yet again ready to take on the competition. This time with a little twist.

We’ve recruited students from our STEM program to collaborate and come up with a design that we can take to the Red Bull Flugtag. We are so confident in our middle school and high school students that we believe we can beat MIT...again!

Stay tuned in the coming months for design updates and more!

Check out our trip to Pittsburgh for the 2017 Red Bull Flugtag announcement.

Submit your own Flugtag team and design. Deadline May 18 to be one of the 40 teams that participate in the 2017 Red Bull Flugtag!
