New Blade Inductrix from Horizon - HD FPV Video!

The Blade Inductrix FPV HD RTF Drone is a new take on the old Inductrix line. Here's more information.

Up until now, the Inductrix has been a simple 'get started' type of drone that was great for getting people started in the exciting world of drone piloting. Just recently, Horizon Hobby announced their new Blade Inductrix Switch that ties in the latest craze for tiny micro-quad style hovercraft. Now, there's a new Inductrix that looks to be aimed more at the wider consumer drone market.

With its all-inclusive package, including a drone, controller, headset and battery, all you'll need is a phone to get flying in First-Person-View.

So who's this targeted at then? Well, it seems that this product is aimed half and half between traditional FPV quads and higher end aerial photography drones. You can view the footage in crystal clear quality and download it over the airwaves to your phone at a (slightly less impressive but fairly respectable) 720p.

However, you can download the video saved onboard the tiny drone. This makes it a competitor to the lower priced DJI produced Ryze Tello drone we reviewed earlier this year. Like the Tello, it seems this is a product for those who want a taste of more expensive AP drones made by companies like DJI.

Here's a quick list of what's included.

  • SAFE® Technology
  • Lightweight, fully assembled Ready-to-Fly drone
  • Quiet electric ducted fan style power system
  • Durable, damage-resistant rotor housings
  • Brilliant orientation LEDs
  • Flight transmitter with built-in tactile camera controls
  • Single cell 550mAh flight battery and USB charger
  • Smart phone headset adapter
  • Articulating camera mount
  • Adjustable on-screen display
  • 720p video feed downlink
  • 1080p 60fps on-board recording
  • SD memory card slot
  • Wireless transfer of saved files to smart phone
  • Apple and Android support

As mentioned, this is all you need to fly the drone (apart from a phone to view your FPV feed on).

Here's the product video for you to see how this thing performs.

I don't want to down the product or anything, but I honestly can't stand having to use a phone and WiFi for FPV. Anybody else feel the same way?

Hi-performance FPV flying requires the lowest possible lag no doubt. I like this quadcopter very much as a video drone and think WiFi is ok for aligning the camera. I'm excited to see what progress they made with the WiFi feed. If the video quality is acceptable I can see myself owning one. Inductrix products are known territory and usually fly beautifully. At the current price, I am waiting for more hands-on reviews before I pull the trigger. I have no problem stocking brushed replacement motors in exchange for a quiet, long-flying video drone.
